    Question

I've been curious to the aspect ratio of the super 8 frame. I'm aware the standard 8mm is 1.33:1 (4:3), but super 16 is about 1.66:1
Can anyone answer this question for me?

    Exclamation

The standard for super 8 is the same for 16mm and 8mm and as well as traditional tv/video which is 4 to 3 or 1.33:1. Hope this helps. Han

    Nigel--
Super 16 is 1.66:1 ! See The 16mm Camera Book by Douglas Underdahl, available froom amazon.com .

1.85:1 is one of the "academy apertures" used in 35mm, the other being 2.35:1 .

super-8 is 1.33:1, academy is 1.37:1, usually cropped to 1.85:1 when projected, and super-16 is 1.66:1.
